Study on the Incidences of the Lip, Jaw and Palate Clefts of Korean Fetuses



Abstract
Authors observed the incidences of the lip, jaw and palate clefts among the 5541 fetuses aged from four to ten fetal month and results were as follows:
1. The total incidences of the lip, jaw and palate clefts were 0.21 per cent(12 cases), or one case out of each fetuses.
2. The incidences of the lip, jaw and palate clefts of the male were higher than that of the female. 3. The incidences of the types of the clefts were as follows:
a. Lip complete-jaw-palate incomplete (degree 2(II)) 4 cases
b. Lip complete-jaw-palate complete: 2 cases
c. Lip incomplete (degree 1) 2 cases
d. Lip incomplete (degree 2) 1 case
e. Lip complete-jaw 1 case
f. Bilateral lip complete-jaw-palate complete 1 case
g. Median lip complete-jaw-palate complete 1 case
